End of A Decade Start of A New Era
It has been a while since I last blogged. My life has been filled with so many blessings and many things I would like to write about, that I did not know where to start. So, I decided to write one final blog post for this decade, one that summed up all the incredible things this year brought to me. At the beginning of the decade, I said goodbye to Guatemala and thought I would never return, only to say hello to it once more at the end of the decade. I have grown a lot, some lessons were hard to learn but I am grateful for them. 2019 has been a year of many drastic changes, all of which have led me to where I am today. I want to thank all of my readers for following my stories and for believing in me.
I rang in the new year with two big trips, Orlando and Seattle. I got to experience Disney as an adult and I tried snowboarding for the first time in my life! I remember being terrified I would break something, but in the end... the thrill was worth all the falls!
I finally became a dog dad to the puppy of my dreams, Khaleesi! I could not picture my life without this little (spoiled) bundle of joy!
I was blessed with another trip to one of my favorite cities in all of the world... Paris! This trip amplified my love for this romantic city and gave me a chance to see the city at my own pace and visit new areas.
Then, the biggest change of my life happened... I had to say goodbye to my home, New York City. Personal circumstances got in the way, and I had to move back to Guatemala. At first, I was utterly devastated. I thought my life would never be the same and that everything I worked so hard for would be for nothing.
I was wrong.
This move proved to be one of the best things that could have ever happened in my life!
I got the incredible opportunity to visit a country I thought I would never visit, Peru! I fell in love with the culture and WITH THE FOOD! Oh my God, the food is what stayed with me the most. Now, I only look for Peruvian Ceviche wherever they sale seafood.
Soon after, I got to celebrate my birthday by going to Vegas and LA where I saw two of my favorite singers in their Vegas Residencies... Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera! I remember promising myself I would never go to Vegas, until Lady Gaga had a show there and I kept that promise.
I crossed off Japan from my country bucket list, a country I was DYING to visit due to my love for all of its culture. I did not get to see everything I wanted, but that does not matter... I will be returning.
Once my favorite season came along, it was time for me to book a trip to one of my favorite places, Vermont! I was able to enjoy the company of one of my absolute best friends while enjoying all the fall traditions.
My fall festivities continued with a trip to Orlando with some of my closest friends, where we went to all the Disney parks and to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights! Definitely making it a tradition of going every year, so mark your calendars for next year.
Another big change in my life happened the day I became the Artistic Director of Horizon Magazine. I feel truly blessed to be part of this magnificent team and I am beyond excited to see where this new venture takes me!
While in Guatemala, I've had the chance to grow professionally, emotionally, and intellectually. I have met so many incredible people, people that now have become close friends of mine and I feel very lucky to have in my life. There have been lows, but I have been able to get through them thanks to my loved ones. I have felt the support of everyone, from New York to Guatemala. My friends and family have never stopped believing in me, and neither have I. The changes this year are setting me up for this new decade, I am ready for whatever this new age brings me. I am grateful for everything: for the lessons learned, the laughs, the tears, the heartbreak, health, the opportunities, and above all for the love. Love is the highest frequency in the Universe, and when you vibrate at that frequency... everything falls into place.
Thank you for being part of my journey and I hope you are all still part of it for many years to come.
