Before my family and I sailed away on the Jewel of the Seas from Royal Caribbean and after the cruise was done, we stayed a few days in Madrid and Rome. Both cities I have never been at until this trip, so I was super excited to explore each one!
We stayed at Apartamentos Fuencarral that are located in the street in Madrid called Fuencarral and this street is filled with amazing stores and leads right towards La Gran Via, which is one of the main shopping streets in Madrid. It is also walking distance from Puerta Del Sol. Being in Spain, you have to try local food, and what better food to try than tapas? I recommend trying all the different kinds of tapas, that way you do not miss out on anything! For dessert you have to have churros and hot chocolate! It doesn't matter if it is 80 degrees out, everyone still dunks their churros in their hot chocolate and trust me, it is DELICIOUS! We also did a tour around the city in one of the City Tour Buses and we got to see all of Historic Madrid, if you are short in time I definitely recommend doing one of these hop on and off bus tours. During our last day of the entire trip, my family and I went to the Palacio de Cibeles because the soccer team Real Madrid had just won the Champions tournament, so we went to cheer them on!
Other areas of Spain that we went to were Toledo and Segovia. These places are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! They have a much historic vibe than Madrid and the architecture is stunning. I wish I had had more time in both these places, but I guess I will just have to go back!
I fell in love with Rome. This was one of my top cities that I wanted to visit in the entire world. During our first day in Rome we also took one of the hop on and off bus tours in the city, and were able to see all the classic tourist stops like The Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Castillo Sant'Angelo. I recommend paying the admission price for the Castillo Sant'Angelo because it is a true beauty inside. And, make sure to walk all the way to the top to get the best look of all of Rome, you even get a really good view of Vatican City. But most importantly, you get the perfect view of the statue of San Michael Archangel! I also recommend eating at any of the different plazas around Rome, order yourself a nice glass of red wine and a Margherita Pizza. During our last day in Rome, we went to one of the most important places in all of Italy, Vatican City. Make sure you are properly dressed, no shorts and no exposed shoulders, because otherwise you will not be allowed into the church. Once inside, I got very emotional and shed some tears because everything was breathtaking. Vatican City is a MUST to anyone visiting Rome.

I loved visiting all the countries that I went to, and I must say that I am definitely in the need of spend more time in each of these cities in order to fully appreciate them. Once again, I want to thank my amazing mother for making this trip possible and to my sister for putting up with my need of endless pictures.
